Playing Guitar One for 13 The Musical with Regals Music Society was an absolute joy. Under the musical direction of Jieshun Wang, I had the pleasure of working alongside a terrific band and playing some incredible music every night.

For me, one of the great treats of the production was having the opportunity to shred guitar every night! The score is energetic, colourful and packed with great guitar parts; exactly the kind of musical challenge I love.

More importantly, the production gave me another opportunity to refine my sight reading, musical instincts and overall musicianship. Musical theatre continues to push me to become a more adaptable and responsive player.

Interestingly, there’s always one or two songs in every show that stay with you; the ones you find yourself looking forward to playing each night. 13 The Musical certainly had those moments for me.

A fantastic production, a wonderful band, and another great musical adventure.
